Check out the hawk that decided it wanted to visit our backyard. I think it was just trying to get out of the 110 degree heat. It seems to be enjoying the shade cloth over our small pond/fountain. The top picture he is on the brick wall. The bottom picture he is cooling his talons in the waterfall.

Summer continues
Today is the 26th straight day of temperatures over 100. Let's see today is June 26th, so that means that every day of June it has been over 100. Yeap! Our first 100 degree day was on June 1st and it hasn't stopped yet. In fact we are on track for breaking a record since the rest of this week we'll be over 100 - in fact we have some 111 degree days coming this weekend! The last time we had such a record of triple digit days in June was 28 and that was just last year.
So for my friends in the heat .... don't forget to drink! Okay, a clarification - the drink shold be water.

Summer
Okay, so I have been neglectful in posting. I figured this would be a good time, the last posting was winter and now it is summer!
Tucson didn't have our first 100 degree day until early June. Now that the heat is here, the monsoons should begin shortly. Actually the first official day of monsoon it did rain in some parts of Tucson. Friends just south of us got 1/4 inch of rain. But nothing in our area. I'm sure it will come soon; it generally really begins about 4th of July weekend.
Tim went up to ND in late April to surprise his cousin Archie as part of his birthday. It was a great surprise. This year's trip to ND is different since he split it into two parts. The April/May trip and then the July/August trip.
I was fortunate to be able to visit family in the Boston area this spring. Most of my work trips have been just been in Arizona so far. Looking forward to visiting brother Len next week when he will be in Phoenix on business.
I've decided that I needed to put more things on my plate. Last Fall and this Spring I decided to have an English language class for non-native speakers of my own. I partnered up with another teacher and we had a blast at the library. Each session was a big class; there were over 40 people signed up and most sessions we had over 25 students attending. Summer time is always difficult for me to commit to such a class since that is the busy travel time for work. So I'm just on the sub list. I'm hoping to be again a teacher in the Fall.
In addition to the teaching, I'm taking a couple of courses at Rio Salado College in order to get an academic certificate in K12 eLearning Design. I'm hoping to be halfway through the coursework before I go on vacation. My sister told me that I'm not allowed to bring schoolwork on vacation!
My godson and nephew, Jordan, is currently deployed to Afghanistan. Please keep him and the members of the FL National Guard unit in your prayers. He is scheduled to return to the States the Spring of 2014. Being a good godmother I'm trying to send him a CARE package every couple of weeks.
